UAB Celebrates 20 Years of Creating Histories

by Matthew Leake - Monday, July 11, 2011

The team behind the Máster de Escritura para Televisión y Cine (Masters for Television and Film Writing) is currently celebrating under the slogan “20 Years Creating Histories”. Events have been organised to mark the end of two successful decades by the department at the Universidad Autònoma de Barcelona in creating new screenwriters and producers for both television and cinema.

This November, those on the course will participate in the 18th Barcelona Festival for Independent Cinema, also called L’Alternativa 2011, at the Centre de Cultura Contemporánea de Barcelona. The event will be attended by leading lights in the world of screenplay and has been dedicated to the celebration of the course’s 20th anniversary.

El Máster de Escritura para Televisión y Cine was pioneered in Spain and is offered by the Department of Journalism and Communication at UAB. Initially, all students had to attend the course in person, but thanks to technological advances it was one of the first of its kind to be made available online, which it has been for the past 12 years. As a result, the course is now internationally accessible and students from all over the world can enrol.
