The CETT in Barcelona held the semi finals of a national cooking contest, IV Concurso Cocinero del Año earlier this week. The winner of this competition, Juan Jiménez, will compete against 5 other chefs in the last stage of the competition.
The competitors, all over 23, were required to cook a starter, a main course and a dessert. They had 5 hours in which to do this. The ingredients could not cost more than 16 Euros per head.
The competition splits Spain into 6 regions, each of which is holding its own semi final. Competitors who live in the North East of Spain attended the semi final held at the CETT. There were 7 chefs from Catalunya, 2 chefs from the Balearic islands and 1 from Huesca who all fought to represent the North East of Spain.
The winner of this round of the competition will now compete in the national final which will take place in Barcelona in 2012.
