University of Barcelona receives 14 ICREA prizes for research

The University of Barcelona is the centre which won the most ICREA prizes for its research this year. The winners of the prizes receive money, some funding for their research and a donation for their host university.
ICREA, Institució Catalana de Recerca i Estudis Avançats (the Catalan Institute for Research and Advanced Studies),is based within Cataluña and promotes research within the universities of the region. There were 25 prizes given in total and 14 of these were received by researchers working within the University of Barcelona.
The researchers who received prizes work in many fields. The majority of prizes were awarded for scientific research; to those investigating experimental science, life science, medicine and social science. However awards were also given to those working in the humanities and technology.
Prizes were also awarded to researchers from the Girona university, Pompeu Fabra, Rovira i Virgili and the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
