Interuniversity Council, CIRECYL, unites universities in Castilla and León

by Lindsay Cook - Tuesday, February 22, 2011

An interuniversity council, CIRECYL (Consejo Interuniversitario de Estudiantes de Castilla y León), has been created in the region of Castilla and Leon. It will unite the public universities of the region which are the universities of Salamanca, Valladolid, Burgos and León.

The council was created in July 2010 but it´s first meeting was held last week in the University of Salamanca, which is the official base of the council. The president of the board of directors is currently a student from the University of Salamanca, Estifen Tedejo.

The council will work to protect the rights of the students, improve the communication between the universities and unite the students within the region. It will also promote the students participation in university life.

It is hoped that CIRECYL will expand in the future to include the private universities within Castilla and León.
