UCLM hosts XII edition of the Workshop of Physical Agents

by Chloe Bustin - Friday, August 19, 2011

On September 5th and 6th the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) will host the XII edition of the ‘Workshop of Physical Agents’, in Albacete. About 70 researchers from all over the world will participate in the congress to present their scientific works related to autonomous control systems and artificial intelligence applied to physical agents in general and robotics in particular.

The event will feature two internationally renowned researchers in the field, who will be responsible for conducting the two plenary conferences scheduled in the event, Dr. Carlos Balaguer, currently Vice President of Research at the Carlos III University of Madrid; and Dr. Barbara Caputo, of the IDIAP Research Institute in Switzerland.

This conference serves as a forum for discussion and communication between research groups nationally and internationally, who reveal their scientific work and research findings in the field of physical agents, focusing on artificial intelligence, mobile robotics, the social and service robotics or home automation applied to industry or educational aspects.

"In our area, this conference is very important because it allows the exchange of information and experience in a field as multidisciplinary as the physical agents," says Ismael García Varea, director of the Congress and UCLM researcher, to whom the initiative is important for providing new theoretical frameworks and real technology to reach the needs of society. The official languages of the forum will be Spanish and English.
