The University of Barcelona tops SIR rankings for Scientific Research

The SIR rankings were compiled by analysing the investigatory work of universities in both Spain and Latin America. The University of Barcelona beat the other Spanish universities and was ranked fourth.
It came behind the San Paolo University in Brazil, The National Autonomous University in Mexico and the state owned Landscape University also in Brazil.
The investigatory team looked at 1369 different institutions. They explored the universities scientific production and quality, their collaboration with other universities and the number of articles that were published by each university.
The rankings were complied observing the universities action between 2005 and 2009 but published last week. Spain and Brazil were the two countries with the highest rankings overall.
