European University of Madrid Dental Hygiene Project

by Lindsay Cook - Monday, May 9, 2011

Students from the European University of Madrid are participating in a new project which promotes dental hygiene amongst the mentally handicapped. The project is called “I too go to the dentist.”

The project has a double objective, in part it is to make the students aware of the special requirements that mentally handicapped people have when they go to the dentist. However it will also help promote dental hygiene amongst the handicapped and help them loose their fear of visiting the dentist.

The project includes videos made by handicapped people about their experiences of going to the dentist. It should promote greater understanding of mental disabilities and improve relations between the students and the handicapped.
